To better serve the needs of patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer, the Bismarck Cancer Center, Mid Dakota Clinic and CHI St Alexius Health host a multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic. In addition, Bismarck Cancer Center and Sanford Health have established a Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Care Conference. Most often, breast cancer is diagnosed by a general surgeon who arranges for consults with various other medical specialists. For patients, the next step can be overwhelming and the time in between consults can seem lengthy.
The purpose of the clinic and conference is to reduce the anxiety experienced by patients and their families and develop a comprehensive plan that will best serve the breast cancer patient.
