Cancer Registry

The Central North Dakota Cancer Registry (CNDCR) provides coordination with Sanford, St. Alexius Medical Center and the Bismarck Cancer Center staff in creating an accurate database of cancer cases in the region.

The database is used by cancer researchers regionally, nationally and worldwide. Physicians call on the registry for information regarding the incidence of cancer in a given area.

Shirley, Follow-up Registrar

Started at Bismarck Cancer Center: 2009
Previous Experience: Bismarck Tribune, Star Restaurant Equipment, Portamedic

Shirley joined the staff at Bismarck Cancer Center eight years after seeing how amazing the staff treated her when she’d been a patient under their care. Her favorite part of working at BCC is being able to call the staff her family, and feels they are a blessing in her life. Her most memorable experience with BCC is knowing a dear friend traveled his journey under their care – later telling Shirley her daily hugs to him helped him to make it through.

Jennifer, Cancer Registrar

Started at Bismarck Cancer Center: 2001
Previous Experience: Laboratory Technician

Jennifer first became motivated to work in the cancer field because she feels strongly: cancer is not a death sentence. Jennifer feels sometimes people have to take time out of life, go through treatment – then get back in the game. Jennifer loves the patients most at BCC. Her favorite experience of working with BCC includes getting to know her co-workers and patients

Annesse, Cancer Registrar

Started at Bismarck Cancer Center: 2012
Previous Experience: Sanford Health
Education: Dickinson State University, Interstate Business College

Annesse first became motivated to work in the cancer field –  simply due to knowing the disease is intimidating. She wanted to learn more about it, and in some way help to play a part in making the future of cancer less scary. Her favorite part of working with BCC is witnessing the dedication and friendliness of staff toward patients as they enter the center. She finds it inspiring and uplifting to see patients move through their journey at the center with a positive outlook. Her most memorable experience, thus far, is having worked Applefest. She found it amazing to see the event come together after staff worked so hard to put the event together – then culminated the experience by raising money to benefit the center and patients.
