Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is comprised of three members from each hospital. The Board provides leadership and direction for the strategic planning efforts that support the Bismarck Cancer Center’s mission and vision.

Kirk Cristy, Director, President of the Board – Chief Financial Officer at Sanford Health Bismarck

Kirk is the CFO of Sanford Health Bismarck. He has been with Sanford-Bismarck since 2013. Prior to coming to North Dakota, Kirk was the VP-Finance at St. Joseph Health System in Texas. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting, from Angelo State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Texas Tech University.

Fahn

J’Patrick Fahn, Vice President – Chief Medical Officer & Vice President of Medical Operation at CHI St. Alexius Health

Dr. J’Patrick Fahn is a North Dakota native who grew up in Bismarck. He went to medical school in Des Moines, IA, where he received his degree in osteopathic medicine. Dr. Fahn furthered his education at the UND Center for Family Medicine in Bismarck North Dakota after which he began working as a hospitalist at St. Alexius Medical Center. In 2021, he accepted the position of chief medical officer at CHI St. Alexius Bismarck as well as vice president of medical operations for CHI operations in Bismarck, Turtle Lake, Garrison, and Minot.

Chris Meeker

Chris Meeker, Secretary of the Board – Vice President-Medical Officer at Sanford Health Bismarck

Dr. Meeker is a board certified emergency medicine physician who started at Sanford Bismarck, formerly Medcenter One, in 2006.  He was voted Chief of Staff in 2010 and accepted the position of Chief Medical and Quality Officer in 2011.  He was a member of the Sanford Health Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2014.  He holds an MD degree from the University of North Dakota and completed residency at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas.  He is actively engaged with legislative committees and community partnerships with a focus on opioid stewardship. 

Jeff Gustafson

Jeffrey Gustafson arrived from California about 7 years ago.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Mary.  Jeff has nearly 30-years of hospital facilities management and is currently the Facilities Director at St. Alexius Health.

 

Wendy Kopp

Wendy Kopp, Director – Vice President of Nursing & Clinical Services

Wendy is the Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Services at Sanford Health Bismarck.  She started her career as a registered nurse at then Medcenter One Health Systems. In 2004 she started became an associate professor at the College of Nursing. In 2014, she became the Director of NDSU Nursing at Sanford Health Bismarck and in 2021 was named Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Services. Wendy received her BSN from the University of North Dakota, her MSN from the University of Mary and her Ph.D. in Occupational and Adult Education from NDSU.
