Patient Apartment Renovation Project – More Than a Place to Stay. A Place to Heal.
For cancer patients traveling to Bismarck for treatment, home can be hundreds of miles away. During radiation therapy, many patients remain in our community for 4 to 8 weeks, making our patient apartments their home away from home.
The Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation provides affordable lodging so patients and their caregivers can stay close to treatment, reduce the stress of daily travel, and focus on healing.
Today, many of these apartments need significant updates. With your help, we can transform these spaces into safe, welcoming environments that provide comfort when it matters most.
Why It Matters
Every year, hundreds of patients travel from across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana to receive cancer treatment at the Bismarck Cancer Center.
For many families, our apartments provide more than a place to sleep—they provide peace of mind.
Instead of worrying about long drives, unsafe weather, or the cost of hotel stays, patients can rest, recover, and spend precious time with loved ones just steps away from the Cancer Center.
In the past year:
3,969 housing nights provided
270 patients and caregivers stayed in our apartments

Creating Healing Spaces
Our apartments have faithfully served patients for many years, but they are showing their age. We are launching a renovation project to ensure every patient has a safe, comfortable, and healing place to call home during treatment.
Planned improvements include:
Walk-in showers and accessibility upgrades
New flooring throughout
Kitchen renovations
Updated furniture and décor
Improved lighting
New doors, trim, and fixtures
Comfort and safety enhancements
New window treatments
These renovations will improve accessibility, increase safety, and create a more welcoming environment for patients and caregivers during one of life’s most challenging journeys.
